Quality Assurance Committee

The Quality Assurance Committee is established by decision of the Senate and consists of:
a) the Rector or the Vice Rector of NTUA responsible for Academic Affairs,
b) five (5) Faculty Members (FM) of NTUA, holding the rank of Professor or Associate Professor,
c) one (1) representative from each category of Laboratory Teaching Staff (LTS), Special Teaching Staff (STS), and Specialist Technical Laboratory Staff (STTLS),
d) one (1) representative of undergraduate students,
e) one (1) representative of postgraduate students and PhD candidates,
f) one (1) representative from among Visiting Professors, appointed lecturers, visiting researchers, and contract researchers at NTUA.
 
The Committee has a five-year term of office.
 
Representatives from (d) to (f) are elected annually and have voting rights on matters related to their status. The Head of the QA Unit (MO.DI.P.) and the Executive Director of NTUA participate in the meetings of the Committee without voting rights.
 
The Committee’s responsibilities include:
 
a) drafting a proposal on the structure and operation of the Internal Quality Assurance System (IQAS) and submitting it to the Senate for approval and publication in the Government Gazette,
b) developing policy and strategy for quality assurance and enhancement in all teaching, research, and administrative activities at NTUA, particularly:
 ba) the quality of study programmes (first, second, and third cycle), including international programmes,
 bb) the quality of lifelong learning programmes and, in general, the operation of the NTUA Lifelong Learning Centre (KEDIVIM),
 bc) the quality of the academic units (Schools and Departments),
 bd) the quality of the Special Account for Research Funding (ELKE), the University Research and Innovation Center (PAKEK), and the Research Institutes,
 be) the quality of operation of academic or research units such as university clinics, museums, and laboratories, including the services they provide,
 bf) the quality of administrative services,
c) updating the IQAS at least every five (5) years to ensure continuous improvement in line with developments in the European Higher Education Area, international practices, and the guidelines of the HAHE,
d) conducting periodic internal evaluations and reviews of the IQAS,
e) preparing the IQAS Quality Manual and submitting it to the Senate for approval,
f) cooperating with the HAHE for the implementation of its guidelines and directions within the Committee’s remit,
g) exercising any additional responsibilities assigned by the Internal Regulations of NTUA.
