Accreditations of new Postgraduate Programmes of Studies

The establishment of new Postgraduate Programs (P.G. Programs) at Higher Education Institutions in Greece requires their prior accreditation by the Hellenic Authority for Higher Education (HAHE), in accordance with the current legal framework and the Authority’s Quality Standards.

Accreditation constitutes an external evaluation process that ensures that the new P.G. Programs comply with the principles, criteria, and quality specifications of the European Higher Education Area (ESG 2015) and align with the institution’s strategy, mission, and quality policies.

Higher Education Institutions, including the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), are required to submit an Accreditation Proposal Dossier to HAHE, documenting the academic, research, and organizational background of the new P.G. Program, its relevance to current scientific and professional developments, as well as the provision of the necessary resources for its smooth operation.

HAHE, through an evaluation process conducted by a Committee of External Experts, makes a recommendation to the Authority’s Council regarding the granting or refusal of accreditation, which constitutes a prerequisite for the commencement of any new Postgraduate Program.

The Master’s Program “Ship Performance Analysis and Management” of the School of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering at the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) has been accredited by HAHE. The certification is valid for five years, from 03/09/2025 to 02/09/2030.
